Carolyn Holbrook

Carolyn Holbrook is associate professor in history at Deakin University. She recently published with James Walter a history of post-WW2 policy-making in Australia, Australia Fair?: Democracy, Bureaucracy and the Making of Modern Australia, as well as two co-edited books, Challenging Anzac: Stories that Don’t Fit the Legend and Gold Standard?: Remembering the Hawke Government. Carolyn is the Director of the Australian Health & History digital archive.

Catherine Meatheringham

Catherine Meatheringham is an Australian children’s author who writes picture books that invite children to join in with the story. Her picture books feature playful language, onomatopoeia and imagery. Her books have been shortlisted for the Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year Awards and Highly Commended in the ACT Notable Awards. Catherine regularly presents at schools and lives in Canberra with her husband, children and golden retriever.

Catie Bradbear

Catie Bradbear is a Canberra-based economist and senior executive with the Productivity Commission, where she has delivered inquiries on pressing economic, social and environmental issues. She has advocated strongly for greater representation of women in economics through leading mentoring programs and as an inaugural member of the executive committee of the ACT Women in Economics Network. Her book, Power in Numbers: Australian women in economics, co-authored with Melissa Bray, was released in September 2026.

Charlie Jane Anders

Charlie Jane Anders is the author of Lessons in Magic and Disaster and the upcoming novel Good Things Are Coming Your Way. She is currently writing Star Trek: Zero Point for IDW Comics. She reviews science fiction and fantasy books for The Washington Post and co-hosts the podcast Our Opinions Are Correct with Annalee Newitz. She’s won the Hugo, Nebula, Sturgeon, Lambda Literary, Crawford and Locus Awards. Charlie is also sometimes out of phase with this dimension.

Chris Hammer

Chris Hammer is a best-selling, award-winning Australian crime fiction author. His latest book is Full Circle; a stand-alone thriller set in the cut-throat world of financial markets and the uber rich. He has written nine crime novels – praised for their sense of place, their intricate plots, their colourful characters and their emotional depth. His books Scrublands, Silver and Treasure & Dirt have been adapted for television. Chris was a journalist for some 30 years before becoming a full-time writer.

Chris Ryan

A 50-something former journalist, Mum and award-winning stand-up comedian, Chris Ryan is a proud Canberran. She was handpicked as the national support act for UK comedian, Jen Brister (Reactive 2025) and for Judith Lucy and Kaz Cook’s national tour (Kaz & Jude’s Menopausal Night Out 2023-2024). Chris has three comedy specials streaming on YouTube and is touring her fifth festival show, Extreme Tenant, in 2026.

Christof Bogacs

Christof Bogacs is an acclaimed Australian comic book and video game writer from Sydney. Renowned for blending heart optimism and sharp humour, Christof crafts vibrant narratives for DC Comics, Dark Horse, BOOM!, Oni Press, and HarperCollins. He is the creator behind the critically acclaimed fantasy graphic novel Under Kingdom, the deeply personal semi-autobiographical middle-grade book Earth to Chris Cleevy, and Lex Luthor: Diabolical genius. Driven by the belief that comics are a universal visual language, Christof writes empathetic stories focused on mental health and male identity.

Clive Hamilton

Clive Hamilton is the author of some 20 books, primarily on climate change and the Anthropocene. He founded and then directed the Australia Institute. From 2008, he was professor of public ethics at Charles Sturt University in Canberra. He has held visiting academic positions at Oxford University, Yale University, Sciences Po, and University College London. His latest book is Negotiating the End of the World: Kant, Schmitt, and the global climate struggle.

Corey Tutt

Corey Tutt OAM is a Kamilaroi man, and CEO and founder of DeadlyScience, a nonprofit organisation that aims to connect young First Nations people with mentors in STEM. In 2020, Corey was named the NSW Young Australian of the Year and a Human Rights Hero by the Australian Human Rights Commission. In 2022, Corey received an OAM for service to Indigenous STEM education. Before It Was Called Science is Corey’s fifth book following The First Scientists, This Book Thinks Ya Deadly!, Caution! Craig Cormick

Dr Craig Cormick OAM is an award-winning science communicator and author of over 40 books of fiction and non-fiction. His writing awards include the NSW Premier’s History Prize, ACT Book of the Year Award, and being shortlisted for the Prime Minister’s History Award. He is Patron of MARION, the Canberra Writers Centre and a Children’s Book Council of Australia (ACT) Ambassador. His most recent title co-authored with Darren Rix is Warra Warra Wai: How Indigenous Australians discovered Captain Cook, and what they tell about the coming of the Ghost People. .

Cynthia Banham

Cynthia Banham is a writer, journalist and lawyer. She is the author of three non-fiction books and previously worked as a journalist in the Federal Parliamentary Press Gallery in Canberra. Liberal Democracies and the Torture of their Citizens was based on her PhD. A Certain Light: A memoir of family, loss and hope was shortlisted for the Prime Minister’s Literary Awards. Her most recent book is Mother Shadow: A meditation on maternal inheritance, published by Upswell.
