Kaaron Warren

Shirley Jackson award-winner Kaaron Warren published her first short story in 1993 and has had fiction in print every year since. She has published six multi-award-winning novels, two stand-alone novellas, and seven short story collections. Kaaron has lived in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Fiji, drawing inspiration from every place. She wrote her novel The Underhistory inspired by research into Prime Ministers, artists and serial killers. The novel was described in the Guardian as ‘a beautifully constructed, suspenseful gothic tale’.

Karen Middleton

Journalist Karen Middleton has watched politics for decades. She’s a weekly columnist for The Monthly‘s digital subscribers, a regular panellist on ABC TV’s Insiders and contributes regularly to the Nine Network’s Weekend Today Show, Nine newspapers and ABC radio. Karen is the author of two books – An Unwinnable War, Australia in Afghanistan (2011) and Albanese, Telling it Straight (2016).

Karen Viggers

Karen Viggers is a novelist, veterinarian, adventurer, and co-host of the Secrets from the Green Room podcast. She loves climbing mountains and fording streams all over the world. She is passionate about nature and wildlife and has worked with all kinds of Australian native animals, including possums, penguins, pythons, and seals. She is the author of five internationally bestselling novels and lives in Canberra on Ngunnawal/Ngambri land, where she walks daily in her local bushland, listening to birds. Her latest book is Sidelines.

Kate Forsyth

Kate Forsyth is an award-winning author and storyteller. Her novels include The Changeling, set during Scotland’s first witch-hunt; Psykhe, a reimagining of the Greek myth from a feminist perspective; and Bitter Greens, a reimagining of ‘Rapunzel’ which won the ALA award for Best Historical Fiction. Kate Forsyth’s Long-Lost Fairy Tales was an Honour Book in the 2025 CBCA awards. Kate has a BA in literature, a MA in creative writing, and a Doctorate of Creative Arts in fairy tale studies. Her latest book is The Changeling.

Katina Curtis

Katina Curtis is Capital Brief’s Senior Political Correspondent, and the press gallery’s vice-president. She has been covering federal politics for more than a decade, reporting on five elections, six prime ministers and 15 budgets – so far. During her time in the Canberra press gallery, Katina has worked for The West Australian, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and AAP.

Kim Rubenstein

Kim Rubenstein is an Australian legal scholar, legal practitioner, professor and Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law and the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia. From 2006 to 2016 she was Professor and Director of the Centre for International Law and Public Law at the Australian National University, from 2011-2012 she was the inaugural Convenor of the ANU Gender Institute and from 2020-2022 she was Co-Director, Academic of the 50/50 by 2030 Foundation at the University of Canberra.

Kris Kneen

Kris Kneen is an award-winning author of fiction, poetry and non-fiction. They have been shortlisted for many awards including the prestigious Stella Prize. Their poetry collection, Eating My Grandmother, won the Thomas Shapcott Prize. Their latest book, Rite of Spring, was published by Transit Lounge in July 2026.
